Biomedical Engineering (BME) is the application of engineering principles to the medical field. A biomedical engineer searches for technological innovations to prevent, diagnose and treat diseases. Interdisciplinary research between mechanical, electrical and chemical engineering and the biological sciences have led to new research fields as biomechanics and tissue engineering, molecular bioengineering (drug design) and biomedical imaging (diagnostics). In this presentation various examples of these research topics will be shown
Pembicara : Christian Weststrate is a PhD student. He is doing research “ Ultrafast Spectroscopy of Water-Protein Interactions “ at Institute for Atomic and Molecular Physics (AMOLF), Amsterdam, the Netherlands . Christian graduated his master degree at Eindhoven University of Technology in Biomedical Engineering. His master thesis is Biomedical Image Analysis.
